Three victims of a violent kidnap incident at the Army Post Service Housing Estate, Phase 2, Kurudu Abuja have been released.
The three victims were forcefully taken from their home at the Hilltop estate on Thursday night.
Even though soldiers attached to the estate gate about three miles from the kidnap venue rushed to the scene, the kidnappers were able to make away with their three victims.
The news of their release was broken by the chairman of the estate residents association, Brigadier General Lot Linua (RTD).
In a text message to residents, Linus said: “Abduction at Hill Top, We thank God the victims have been released.”
Barrister Cyril Adikwu and two of his in-laws were abducted amidst exchange of fire between the soldiers and terrorists.
When our correspondent visited the estate, it was revealed that the hilltop estate though part of the army estate is far from other parts and not covered by the perimeter fencing of the estate.
It is also close to hills and forests making it attractive and easy to get away from.
There were reports that the kidnappers demanded for a ransom of over N30million but some of the executives of the estate said it was not true.
“Since the incident happened, the Nigerian Army has swung into operation of search and rescue and it is the result you’re seeing in their release now,” an official said.
