Elisha Abbo, the senator representing Adamawa north will not be seeking re-election in the 2023 general elections because a High Court in Yola has barred him from doing so.
Abbo became an infamous internet sensation after he was filmed assaulting clerks at an Abuja adult sex shop in May 2019. He has since apologized while a court ordered him to pay compensation to the victim.

The senator’s current travails was delivered in a judgement on Tuesday by Mohammed Danladi, the presiding judge, held that having been expelled from his ward, the senator cannot seek nomination under the party or re-election.
Abbo, was expelled by the Mubi north local government council executives of the All Progressive Congress (APC) on October 7, 2022 for anti-party activities.
The senator had been vocal in his criticism of the muslim-muslim ticket of his party’s presidential candidate , Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The court also asked Abbo to refrain from parading himself as the candidate of the party for the senatorial district.
The judge said the senator had full opportunity to present his defence but chose not to do so and ruled that the plaintiffs’ lawsuit against the senator was not an internal party matter as alleged, and that they had locus standi to file the lawsuit against Abbo since they were official party members.
However, Abbo said he will appeal the judgement.
