Despite a burning house, the national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Iyorchia Ayu will on Wednesday jet out of the country for a two-week tour of some European nations
Simon Imobo-Tswam, his special adviser on media, announced this in a statement issued on Tuesday.
Imobo-Tswam said Ayu is expected to spend about two weeks abroad and has handed over to Iliya Damagun, PDP deputy chairman (north), who will oversee the affairs of the national working committee (NWC) until his return.
“Already, the national chairman has communicated the handover to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). He is expected back at month-end,” the statement reads.

It remains to be seen what would be left of the PDP by the time Ayu returns at the end of the month when campaigns would officially begin for the 2023 general elections.
Ayu has continued to battle renegade splinter groups in the PDP who claim that the presidential candidate and the national chairman cannot come from the same zone and insisting that the chairmanship be zoned to the south for equity and balance.
