Arise Television presenter, Rufai Oseni, has apologised to the Lagos state government after he was ‘arrested’ for breaching the state traffic rule while driving through the designated Bus Rapid Transit route.

Oseni ‘broke’ the internet on Monday when he posted on twitter that a policeman pointed a gun at his head and forcefully took his car away.
But Benjamin Hundeyin, spokesperson of the Lagos state police said Oseni resisted the police after he broke traffic rule and that the police would not be buying his excuse of being led there by Google map.
The incident led many on social media to conclude that the presenter was being targeted unfairly because of his criticism of the APC led government.
However, in a twist to the story, Hundeyin said the presenter had been found guilty by a court for violating the Lagos State Transport Law of 2018 and has paid the N70,000 fine.

Hundeyin: “Mr Rufai Oseni was in court earlier today. He was found guilty of contravening Lagos State Transport Law (2018). He was subsequently fined Seventy Thousand Naira Only. He made the payment, after which his vehicle was released to him.”
Commenting on the incident, Oseni, on Wednesday, during Arise TV’s Morning Show, apologised for what transpired, describing it as “most humbling experience”.
“As many of you know, in the last two days I have been in the news for the wrong reasons. This has resulted in needless distraction for my friends, family, members of the public and for all my colleagues here on Arise News Channel.
“I would therefore like to apologise to all parties over what transpired during the incident with the police when I was stopped for driving on a bus lane. I cannot and dare not lay claims to knowing it all. Lessons have been learnt from this entire episode and this has been a most humbling experience for me.”
