For fear of an impending attack on Federal infrastructure including unity schools, the Federal Ministry of Education has directed the immediate closure of all unity schools in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja and ordered immediate evacuation of students.
Though some schools had directed students to vacate latest on Wednesday, July 27, 2022, other schools disseminated messages to parents on Sunday asking them not to fail to come pick their children on Monday, unfailingly, due to rising fear and anxiety emanating from reported threats.
A report had earlier indicated that there were heavy shootings at Federal Government College in Kwali, Abuja, which made parents to rush down to the school to pick their wards until normalcy is restored.
Some members of staff at the Federal Government Girls’ College, Bwari, also confided that they received a directive from the Federal Ministry of Education to allow students vacate the school before Wednesday.
Security situation in the Federal Capital has greatly deteriorated as Boko Haram terrorists ambushed a contingent of soldiers in the Bwari General Area. The terrorists were said to have been on their way to the law school to launch an attack.
