Controversial “Bishops” who attended the formal unveiling of ex-Borno Governor, Kashim Shettima, as the vice-presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), have debunked claims that they were emissaries of the Christian Association of Nigerian (CAN).
The Clergymen, whose attendance at the unveiling sparked reactions on social media, have revealed their identities as ordained Clerics, Church leaders and founders of Christian assemblies.
Addressing the media in Abuja on Monday, secretary of the group, the Muslim-Christian Love Foundation, Bishop Adams Abel King, who read their statement on behalf of others, said they never portrayed themselves as emissaries of the Christian Association of Nigerian (CAN).
Further justifying their authenticity as genuine Clerics, Church leaders and founders of Christian ministries, the group revealed the names of respective worship centres, some of which have existed for several years.
These include; the Divine Prophetic End Time Gospel Faith in Kubwa, Abuja of Bishop Dr. Emeka Theodore; the Christian Revival Evangelical Mission Worldwide of Apostle Godwin Livinus; the Light House of all Nation Ministry of Bishop Emmanuel Sunday Jayeola, among others.
The statement reads in part: “Although Senator Kashim Shettima took the mantle of the state at a difficult time marked by terror attacks and deadly insurgency, his mature, cautious, and decisive management of the state’s affairs helped preserved the social fabric that held several communities together and reassured members of the Christian faith that the government remained committed to their freedoms and wellbeing”.
