Six monthly COVID-19 boosters for people over 50 – Gates

May 16, 2022

By Our Reporter

As we get more data, they might even make that shorter for people, you know, say 60 or over 70, where the duration seems to be a bit lower – Gates

Co-Chair of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Bill Gates

The Co-Chair of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (Bill Gates) while expressing concerns regarding a popular conspiracy theory about him, has called for people over the age of 50 to get COVID-19 vaccine boosters every six months.

Gates made this known during an exclusive interview with Cable News Network (CNN), the multinational news-based pay television channel headquartered in the United States of America (USA).

Responding to questions from the anchor, he said, “Yeah, so an infection where you’ll get a high viral load would be like vaccination, but you know to be safe, every six months you’re probably going to be vaccinated.”

Bill Gates: For people over 50 or 60, they’ll probably have to get boosted every 6 months until we get even better vaccines; so we’re in for ongoing vaccination to stay absolutely safe… pic.twitter.com/zqHXbCPzkK

“For people who are 50 or 60, they will probably have to be boosted every six months until we get even better vaccines,” Gates said during a Friday night appearance on “AC360.

“As we get more data, they might even make that shorter for people, you know, say 60 or over 70, where the duration seems to be a bit lower. So we’re in for ongoing vaccination to stay absolutely safe.”

Gates, who is now 66, recently disclosed that he was infected with COVID-19 and manifesting mild symptoms, despite receiving four doses of the vaccine – two original doses and two booster shots.

“I’ve tested positive for COVID. I’m experiencing mild symptoms and am following the experts’ advice by isolating until I’m healthy again,” Gates wrote on Twitter. “I’m fortunate to be vaccinated and boosted and have access to testing and great medical care.”
