Who would have thought that President Muhammadu Buhari would still tweet on Twitter before the expiration of his tenure? Well, it has happened, Buhari has tweeted and he used the joyful occasion of Eid-El-Fitr to return to Twitter.
This is also about four months after lifting of suspension on activities of the microblogging platform by the Federal Government, (FG).
InfantNG had reported in June 2021 that the FG announced an indefinite suspension of Twitter’s operation after the platform deleted tweets by Buhari, where he had threatened to treat members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) in the “language they understand”.
However after much talk between both parties, the Federal Government lifted the suspension on January 13.
Buhari in a series of tweets to commemorate Eid-el-Fitr on Monday, spoke of how the fight against Boko Haram has been long and hard, but said victory is within sight.
Buhari tweets read: “As we celebrate #EidMubarak with joy amidst friends & family members, we’re fully conscious that many families are in a state of anxiety on account of the many captives held by terrorists against their will, including those taken away after the tragic #AbujaKadunaRail bombing.
“Rescuing the abducted victims is a delicate situation that requires wisdom, caution and also patience. Any rescue operation that results in the death of any hostage cannot be deemed a success. The government doesn’t want this kind of tragic outcome.
“This is a complex situation that demands proper handling. The primary objective of any rescue operation is to free the hostages safely, unharmed and alive”.
