Festival of Arts and Culture, FESTAC, AFRICA is set to hold in Zanzibar, Tanzania after 45 years.
Our correspondent learnt that it is exactly 56 years ago since the first FESTAC took place in Dakar and 45 years later since the second took place in Nigeria.
The FESTAC AFRICA 2022- Destination Zanzibar which is scheduled to hold 21st-23rd May, 2022 was revived after lesser priority has since been placed on this festival which was asked to bind and bring together Africans from all over the world to celebrate Art, Culture, Heritage and unique identity.
Speaking at the press conference in Abuja, the Head, Culture and Tourism, African Union ECOSOCC, Nigeria, Quadri-adu Kehinde said FESTAC AFRICA will amplify Intra-Africa Trade through its exhibition.
He said “The exhibition is designed to showcase the richness of our continent through a Proudly Made in Africa Expo, which we are pleased to extend an invitation to all organizations, blue Chip companies in Nigeria and in other parts of Africa to participate and proudly showcase what Aftica can offer to the rest of the world.
“We invite you to come share in this unique richness and be part of FESTAC AFRICA 2022-Destination Zanzibar, as we usher a new Dawn in Africa from 22nd-29tg May, 2022. Our array of exciting programmes include a 5-day exhibition with about 300 exhibitors of Proudly Made in Africa and international buyers, a 3-day business conference bringing some of the top corporate leaders and government officials to share the abundantly opportunities in Zanzibar, Tanzania and Africa.”
Also, Founder, Naija Ibile Tourism Summit and Expo, Kayode Adeshola who was at the event laid emphasis on the need for Africans to be at the event.
“Let’s all move in mass to Zanzibar, Tanzania to showcase our rich culture. Our strength lies in our number and size. Don’t allow FESTAC AFRICA to die. It’s an heritage given to us by our forefathers. We will be changing the narrative of Africa.”
