The All Progressives Congress, APC has settled for indirect primary election in the process of picking its candidates for the forthcoming general elections.
This has also put paid to the hopes of some aspirants who have been banking on president Buhari opting for a consensus candidate.
The camp of Bola Ahmed Tinubu has been hoping that the president would save them the horror of an open primary which the Tinubu camp is not confident of winning.
The decision was reached at the party’s 11th National Executive Committee, NEC meeting which held at the Transcorp Hotel in Abuja.
Among those jostling for the party ticket are Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, former Lagos governor, Bola Tinubu; the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi; Ebonyi State Governor, Dave Umahi; Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State and the Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige.
Others in the APC who are rumoured to be nursing Presidential ambitions include Ekiti State Governor and Chairman of the Nigerian Governors’ Forum, Kayode Fayemi; The Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele, is also considered a contender.
