The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pst. E.A. Adeboye on Sunday gave reasons why he should not be seen as a politician.
This is coming contrary to reports making round that Adeboye is getting involved in partisan politics ahead of the 2023 general elections.
The G.O rather explained he has been called to be a Pastor mandated to pray for Nigerians and the country as a whole.

He stated this during the April’s thanksgiving at the church’s headquarter in Lagos.
The G.O said his assignment here on earth has nothing to do with partisan politics, noting that he has never voted because he is a father to all.
“Adeboye is not a politician. I have never been and will never be. I have been called to be a Pastor and that is why I do not carry big titles.
“God told me to do away with all these big titles; Rev., Dr, Msc, PhD, etc. He said ‘I am going to be a Pastor’. I am not a prophet. My assignment is to pray for you and the Nigeria.
“My assignment has nothing to do with partisan politics. The only reason I have never voted is that if I vote for anyone, I will be unjust to every of my children because I am the father of all.”
The G.O also urged his members to carry out their civil duties by belonging to any political party and casting their votes.
“Before you became a Christian, you became a Nigerian. You have a duty to your country. You have to vote and belong to any political party of your choice. You cannot sit down and fold your hands and refuse to vote and start complaining about the government in power.
“People chose for you because you refuse to do anything. You must register, vote, sit down there at the voting centre and make sure your vote counts. See that there is no rigging.
“I do not care who you vote for. Do your duty. I have never said this is the party you should belong to. Every party is ably represented in RCCG.”
