Tragedy has hit Nigeria’s film industry, Nollywood as one of the great comedy acts Kunle Tokunbo, who was popularly known as Dejo Tunfulu, has been reported dead.
Tokunbo’s death comes four months after that of Babatunde Omidina, then known as Baba Suwe. The comic actor reportedly died on Thursday night.
The death of Tokunbo, who featured in comedy roles in Yoruba movies, though still sketchy, was confirmed by his colleague, Kunle Afod, on Instagram. He stated, “You still posted this picture recently only for me to hear about your death today. This is so sad, Pressy Tunfulu. Daddy Junior, still can’t believe this.”
Bolaji Amusan, National President of the Theatre Arts and Motion Picture Practitioners Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN), confirmed the death on Friday. Amusan, who was in shock over the development, said he saw the deceased at a party earlier this week.
