Insecurity in Nigeria went a notch higher as terrorists numbering over 200 gained access to the Kaduna International Airport in Igabi local government area of the state where they prevented an aircraft from take-off leaving one official dead.
The sheer number of the terrorist is still confounding security agencies and how they were able to evade suspicion and gained access to the high security facility.
Security officials spoken to by InfactNG confided that this is a new low for security operations in the state and Nigeria in general.
The development caused panic at the airport as the suspected terrorists reportedly killed one security official of the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency and temporarily shut down operations at the airport.
The situation also led to the delay of a flight scheduled for 12:30 while airport workers took to their heels. The terrorists were also said to have taken over the runway of the airport insisting on shutting it down.
It was reliably gathered that the attack began around midnight but was repelled by the military troops around the airport as everything returned to normalcy by the morning as to allow the workers to resume duty.
However, things took a dramatic turn as the terrorists returned in larger number by midday as soldiers continue to battle them.
