President Muhammadu Buhari was on Wednesday locked in a meeting with the governors of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The meeting which was held behind closed doors was convened to ensure that stakeholders were able to reach a consensus.
The party is currently facing challenges ahead of the 26, March 2022.
It was also understood that the major stakeholders in the party, the governors are at the logger head with the president on his choice of party leadership.
There are reports making the rounds that the president is backing a particular candidate for the party chairman, ahead of the Saturday National convention.
The governors, operating under the aegis of the Progressive Governors’ Forum (PGF), were led to the meeting by their Chairman, who is the Governor of Kebbi State, Alhaji Atiku Bagudu.
They arrive at the Presidential Villa after the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting earlier chaired by the President.
