What a man cant do, the women are doing better. Tonight two goals from Ifeoma Onumonu was all the Super Falcons needed to give Nigeria a step ahead their fierce rival Cote d’lvoire in the first leg of their final qualifying round for the 2022 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Abuja on Friday.
Both team struggle to take the initiative in the opening minutes.
The Falcons took the lead when Onumonu fired the Super home from inside the box in the 21st minute with Esther Okoronkwo providing the assist.
The Ivorians poured forward in search of an equaliser afterwards but Chiamaka Nnadozie produced a number of superb saves to deny the visitors.
Onumonu then scored Nigeria’s second of the game four minutes before the hour mark lobbing the ball over the Ivorian goalkeeper.
The second leg will take place on Wednesday at the Stade Robert Champroux, Abidjan.
