Residents of Tungan Bako and Kawo communities in Rafi Local government area of Niger state are looking for about N70million to pay bandits for the release of almost 100 people abducted from the two communities.
Gunmen on Thursday night killed two persons and abducted over 100 during an invasion of the communities in an attack that occurred simultaneously lasting almost five hours from 11:pm Thursday night.

According to some residents who barely escaped death and capture, the gunmen arrived the communities in about 30 motorcycles. They said majority of those abducted were women and children while two were killed as they tried to escape the onslaught.
A residents, who identified himself as Umar, said the communities are currently empty as those who managed to escape are fearful of returning to their homes and farms.
One of the residents confirmed that the bandits got in touch and demanded N70 million. “They have called us that we should bring N70 million as ransom before the people can be released. That is all I can say for now.”
