Nigeria may eventually turn the curve of COVID-19 fatalities if the statistics from the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) is anything to go by. Nigeria on Monday recorded 55 COVID cases with three spotting the Omicron variant but no deaths.
The NCDC confirmed the figures in its update for December 5. The breakdown of the data shows that Lagos state recorded the highest number of cases with 37 new infections. Others are: Edo (6), Osun (5), Oyo (4), Ogun (2), and Ekiti (1).

While there are no deaths recorded, the total number of deaths stands at 2,980.
Also, 23 people were discharged on Sunday after recovering from the infection.
To date, 214,622 cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in Nigeria with 207450 discharges made.
