Unknown gunmen have breached the security architecture of the Nigerian Defence Academy in Adams, wrecking havoc on the community and in the process killing two military officers while another was abducted.
In a press release issued in Abuja, the Director Army Public Relations, Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu said the incident happened in the early hours of Tuesday.
“The security architecture of the Nigerian Defence Academy was compromised early this morning by unknown gunmen who gained access into the residential area within the Academy in Afaka. During the unfortunate incident, we lost two personnel and one was abducted,” Nwachukwu said.
He said the Academy in collaboration with the 1Division Nigerian Army and Air Training Command as well as other security agencies in Kaduna state has since commenced pursuit of the unknown gunmen within the general area with a view to tracking them and rescue the abducted personnel.
This newspaper gathered that the gunmen are identified as bandits who came into the Academy in large numbers at around 0125hrs.
It was also gathered that Major Datong was abducted while Lt Cdr Wulah and Flt Lt CM Okoronwo were shot dead.
Also, 2Lt Onah sustained gun shot injury and currently receiving treatment at the Academy hospital.
Nwachukwu said: “The NDA community and Cadets are safe in the Academy. We assure the general public that this unknown gunmen would soon be apprehended and the abducted personnel rescued.”
