The late Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt General Ibrahim Attahiru and six others who perished in a plane crash in Kaduna yesterday will be buried today at the National Military Cemetery.
According to the Director Army Public Relations, Brigadier General Mohamed Yerima, the service would commence at 10: am at the National mosque and church while the burial will begin at 1:pm.
Yerima said: “The Burial proceedings of the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Late Lieutenant General Ibrahim Attahiru and 6 other senior officers who lost their lives in an air mishap in Kaduna is slated for today Saturday, 22 May 21. It will commence at the National Mosque and National Christian Centre, Abuja by 1000hrs respectively.
“Consequently, the interment for the late COAS and 6 other senior officers will take place at the National Military Cemetery, Abuja today by 1300hrs.”
Meanwhile, President Muhammadu Buhari has mourned the departed Sent Chief and other military officers describing them as “heroes who paid the ultimate price for peace and security” in the country.
Speaking through his Senior Special Adviser on Media, Femi Adesina, Buhari said it is a ” blow to our underbelly at a time the military is poised to end the security challenges facing the country.”
