Tragedy struck tonight when a Nigerian Air Force (NAF) carrying the Chief of Army Staff ( COAS), Lt. General Ibrahim Attahiru crashed on approach of the Kaduna airport.
The COAS and eight of his staff died immediately in the ensuing inferno. The NAF has confirmed one of it’s planes was involved in the crash but declined to mention names in the casualties.
The late COAS has been credited with some far reaching reforms in the Army before his unfortunate death.
A general who spoke with Infactng on condition of anonymity said the crash was a systemic failure which has been left to fester.
“This is an accident, a NAF plane crash, it has nothing to do with the Chief of the Air Staff, it is a systemic failure which preceded this administration,” our source said.
