New measures that would tackle the rising rate of criminality in the Southeast and Southsouth region of the country has been approved by President Muhammadu Buhari, the Acting Inspector-General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba, disclosed this afternoon.
The Acting (IGP) said this after a concluding security meeting with the President at the Presidential Villa, Aso Rock Abuja.
He however did give details of the plan.
Also approved at today’s meeting is a memo presented by the National Security Adviser (NSA), Major General Babagana Monguno (rtd) on the need to control abuse of drugs which he claimed is an enabler of crime in the country.
The rate of insecurity in every part of the country has risen in the past few months with kidnapping and murder of students in the northern part of the country. Many people have called on the President to tackle the crisis or resign his position as President and Commander-In-Chief.
Some religious leaders have also called on their followers to have a Plan B out of Nigeria because nothing is guaranteed in the country anymore.
