President Muhammadu Buhari is to proceed on a “routine medical check-up” to London today, according to his Media Assistant, Mallam Garba Shehu.
The Nigerian president has repeatedly preferred doctors in London to fixing the comatose health system in his own country. This is inspite of his passionate promise during his campaign that he would not seek to extend the medical tourism favoured by Nigerian leaders.
Mallam Shehu said the President will meet with Service Chiefs this morning for a briefing before departure. He is expected back in the country in the second week of April 2021.
A breathe of Fresh Air
Some Nigerians are already looking forward to the President’s departure as it would provide ” fresh air” for the country.
Some of them who took to the social media to express their happiness said they look forward to the two weeks of peace before the President’s intended return.
Nigeria has been in the grip of insecurity, corruption, economic hardship and rudderless leadership under Mr Buhari’s administration.
