Again, bandits strike in Niger, abducts students, teachers

February 17, 2021

By Infactng

It was tears and anguish this morning as parents lament the abduction of a large number of students of Government Science College (GSC) Kagara, Niger State.

The abduction was carried by a group of bandits, who dressed in military uniform  and stormed the school premises in the early hours of Wednesday. It was reported that the school has a population of about 1000 students in the dormitory at the time of the abductions.

The bandits overpowered the security guards, forcefully gained entrance into the school and abducted some teaching staff and members of their families alongside the students.

It was also gathered that one student was killed in the process while some students escaped after the raid.

Former Kaduna Senator, Shehu Sanni broke the new on his verified Twitter handle on Wednesday.

Sanni said: “ Early hours of this morning, armed bandits stormed the Government Science College, Kagara Niger State, my alma mata and abducted some students and staff family members. I just spoke to the principal.

“ The images and video clips of the victims of kidnapping in Niger state which includes children, women and infants is pure evil and tragic. The confidence and audacity of the heavily armed bandits reflects the tumors the government must urgently treat in order to save the nation.”

It was also gathered that while a headcount was ongoing this morning, security agencies were able to detect the coordinates and nature of the area and have begun tracing the bandits while the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) aircraft is tracking the movement from the air.
