In a social media environment which had seen in one month weird and morally questionable inventions like the #Silhouettechallenge and #Bustitchallenge, Nigerian Twitter is currently trending a new challenge tagged: BelikeNgoziChallenge.
Former Minister of Finance, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala was on Monday confirmed as the Director-General of the World Trade Organization, making her the first woman and African to head the world trade body.
This has inspired the feelings of national pride in her native country Nigeria and made may young women aspire to become just like her.
It has also brought to question, the fanatism with a male child in Africa especially in Okonjo-Iweala’s own Igbo tribe which prioritize male children over females.
The #BelikeNgoziChallenge was started by Temi Giwa-Tubosun of Life bank who promised a sum of N100,000 to anyone who is a to mimick the dressing of Okonjo-Iweala with her signature ankara African print and headgear.
As at the time of writing this report, the challenge was number three on Nigeria tweeter trends and has 18.3k tweets.
