The Ooni of Ife, Enitan Ogunwusi, said statements made against him by Yoruba liberator and warrior, Sunday Adeyemo also known as Sunday Igboho is irresponsible and doesn’t make sense.
The monarch who spoke to Premium Times through his Spokesman, Moses Olafare said he will not offer a formal response to Igboho but the threat of violence against him would be dealt with appropriately.
The ọọni said no true son of Yoruba would speak against the Monarch the way Mr. Igboho had done and that statement has cast a doubt on his intentions.
He said: “We have not made any official statements on the matter and the matter does not really make any sense to us.”
While answering questions during an interactive session with Yorubas in the Diaspora, Mr Igboho had lambasted prominent Yoruba leaders including former governor of Lagos State, Bola Tinubu, Oyo state governor, Seyi Makinde, the Monarch of Iwo, Abdulrasheed Akanbi and the Ọọni.
He accused them as fraternising with enemies of the Yorubas and lily-livered who are Fulani slaves. He threatened to vandalize and or destroy property belonging to them also.
But Ọọni said: ” If somebody who identifies himself with the cause of Yoruba could be talking in that manner about the Ooni who is indisputably a spiritual head of the race, then one must wonder whether or not the person has been representing us truly. It gives room to people to suspect your motive.”
Igboho apologize
Infactng can report that Mr. Igboho, following the backlash of his statement has apologized to the Monarch.
In a new video posted online, Igboho said the atrocities committed by Fulani herders including rape, murder and kidnapping are what pains him mostly as a Yoruba son.
