Covid-19: Nigerian Schools resume Jan 18 until further directives, says PTF

January 12, 2021

By InfactNG
Schools in Nigeria will resume on January 18 as earlier directed until
further directives by the Federal Ministry of Education, according to
the Presidential Task Force on Covid-19 (PTF).

The National Coordinator of the PTF, Dr. Sani Aliyu said this in Abuja
on Tuesday.  Earlier on Monday, the Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu
had hinted that due to the second wave of the coronavirus, the Federal
Government may review the earlier announced resumption date.

However, Aliyu countered that the Minister did not specifically
announce a shift in the resumption date. He said: “ As regards school,
I just want to make a clarification, what the minister said yesterday
was that they were going to review, he didn’t say they were going to
change the date. He said they will review the situation and let the
nation know.

“So, for the moment, it is still 18th January until the Ministry of
Education comes back either with an alternative or reconfirm that.”
