Candidate for the position of First Vice President in the just concluded Nigerian Bar Association ( NBA) election and former chairman NBA Ikorodu branch, Adedotun Adetunji has called for a complete overhaul of the electoral system.
In a statement made available to INFACTNG, Adetunji lamented the way and manner the election was conducted calling it ” regrettable and unfortunate.”
He noted that even though the election proper appears to be seamless, he howeverexpressed serious reservations that the results could have been pre-determined.
Adetunji: “Even though the election proper appeared seemless, yet we have serious reservations if the results were not pre-determined.
“As democrats, we congratulate all the winners but we believe strongly that it will do us all (NBA members as a collective) well to do a critical evaluation of the process so as to preserve our corporate integrity, credibility, organisational cohesion and continued relevance.”
He however noted that the bar is the actual winner while calling on the newly elected leaders to “discover and fulfil their mission.”
“In the final analysis, the NBA is truly the winner. The new generation of leaders ‘ll certainly have to discover and fulfil their mission. Congratulations to the President elect, Olumide Akpata Esq, Martins Aikpokpo and all others,” he said.
Adetunji also thanked his supporters including the chief promoters, strategists, field workers and volunteers, nationwide, for the resources, trust, fidelity and unfliching support invested in his campaign.
